Howard s life begins to spiral out of control when he s sucked into a kidnapping plot that turns tragic. Richard Carlson (Creature from the Black Lagoon) portrays Gil Stanton, a gung-ho journalist who may have crossed ethical boundaries when his series of newspaper articles leads to even further tragedy.

Try And Get Me is a first-rate noir with more on its mind than thrills which there are plenty of as it navigates heady themes such as journalistic ethics and vigilante justice. 4.5 stars... Riveting, and revolting, look at the Mexican cartels
"Cartel Land" (2015 release; 100 min.) is a documentary that examines what is happening in the Mexican state of Michoacán, in south-west Mexico (about 1,000 miles from the US border), and in a separate story, we also take a look at what some people are doing at the Arizona border with Mexico. As the documentary opens, we see Mexican guys cooking up meth somewhere in Michoacán. Comments one: "We know we do harm, but we come from poverty". Then we get to know a woman, who lost 13 (!) family members, all brutally murdered by the cartel when their employer (owner of a lime orchard) couldn't pay the cartel, so they shot his employees as revenge. Then we get to know Dr. Mireles, a Michoacán-based physician who is sick and tired of the violence, and realizing that the official authorities will not/cannot do anything, he decides to start the Autodefensas, a grass roots movement to claim back the streets and towns of Michoacán.

An excellent documentary on the complexities of cultures, politics and personal struggles between the US and the Mexico drug trade. The documentary focuses on the people and reasons for the drug trafficking. It highlights the difficulty those involved especially border cities face in coping with the ongoing siege of drug trafficking and illegal immigration. The greed, corruption and cost in human life are the constants in the story. It is griping, sharp, realistic and strong. Dr. Jose Mireles is a fascinating person or hero as he is flawed, compelling and charismatic. He struggles with his own battle between movement leader, cartel corruption and personal problems are revealing as how difficult it can be to fight corruption at an individual level. I highly suggest watching.

Intelligent and Witty Comedy
Whit Stillman has an ear for sophisticated dialog that is virtually unmatched among today's screenwriters. His characters speak in a way that is sharper, smarter, and "realer" than reality. There is also an intelligence in his work that is all too rare in today's pictures. You come away from his films not only entertained, but enlightened and, probably, having learned something as well.
"Barcelona" is about two American cousins living in Spain. Ted (Taylor Nichols) is a shy, reserved sales rep, and Fred (Chris Eigeman) a brash and handsome naval officer. The story is primarily a romantic one. Ted is in love with Montserrat (Tushka Bergen) and Fred, perhaps, with Marta (Mira Sorvino), both beautiful, free-spirited young Spanish women. Marta, though, turns out to be a little too free for Fred's taste, so he also falls for Montserrat. This, of course, provides complications of its own.

First things first, Whit Stillman should be making movies until he dies. Let's get that guy back behind the camera for the good of everybody. Barcelona, as a film, is deceptively serious as, amid its banal conversations about the proper way to shave and management theory, grave subjects are illuminated.

The reflexive anti-Americanism of Spain and Europe are integral to many of the interactions experienced by Taylor and Eigeman, the two main characters. It's at the end of The Cold War and Spain is conflicted over NATO. A humorous side light concerning this situation is made by Eigeman, "I think it's well-known that anti-Americanism has its roots in sexual impotence, at least in Europe." Eigeman's presence in the uniform of a US Naval officer in the Barcelona streets has somewhat predictable results. Yet, no one is able to refute his point that even if the Spaniards don't like NATO, they would never prefer the Soviets rolling through Western Europe instead. The...

It's supposed to be a fertility celebration, but in this show, the celebration is ruined when the May Queen vanishes under mysterious circumstances. There are five episodes in the set.

1- The May queen, Hattie, vanishes the day of the parade. Locals blame the magic circle, but the police are looking at several of her family members. Things look dim even though her twin swears she's still alive.
2- Hattie's father leads a search party to try to distract attention from his handicapped brother.
3- A body is found but it's not Hattie's. Suspicion starts to move in another direction, but the townsfolk are getting antsy.
