I am enjoying Maude now but only because a local station is airing classic shows like Maude and I love it. I feel like I'm discovering a whole new show. I never got to watch it while I was a child in syndication like the other Lear sitcoms. I think the stations were weary of viewer complaints but they did air "All in the Family" thought. This sitcom gets better although I felt that they should have used Hermione Baddeley more in this season. The cast is first rate.

If you loved Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan in Golden Girls as Dorothy and Blanche, you'll love them here. Actually, I don't care too much for the Golden Girls anyway but I was a viewer. It was a superior sitcom of it's time. Personally, I love Bea and Rue here in Maude. They're fantastic as best friends and neighbors. Bill Macy and Conrad Bain play their husbands.

One of MAUDE's Weaker Seasons
For those who didn’t spring for the Complete Series set released last winter, here is the fourth season of MAUDE that consists of the twenty-four episodes that originally aired on CBS during the 1975-76 TV Season on Monday nights at 9:30 following the still-number-one-show on television and MAUDE’s parent program ALL IN THE FAMILY. The ratings for this season were the highest the series ever had with a 25 share and ranking #4 among all programs on the air (Season One also ranked #4 for the 1972-73 Season but with a share of 24.7) which is ironic because many fans, myself included, consider this one a come-down from the three seasons it follows.

The scripts this season aren’t as intelligent or sharp as the ones written thus far with many mediocre offerings such as “Maude’s Nephew”, “Arthur Gets a Partner” or “Carol’s Promotion”. It’s still MAUDE and the performances are still top-notch but if...
Where are the remaining seasons of "Maude"?!

It's been almost 3 years since the first season of "Maude" which was one of the greatest ground-breaking sitcoms of all time was release. Like "All in the Family", this show was not only hilarious but confronted such issues as women's lib, abortion, alcoholism, divorce and many others. "Maude" was a Top 10 show for 5 out it's 6 seasons and by Season 4 it had really hit it's stride. Now that the amazing Bea Arthur is gone I can't believe Sony is that stupid not to capitalize on releasing the remaining seasons of this show for Bea's legions of fan - of which I am one and proud of it!
