Unlike anything you can find today, Sex World is 1970's "Porn With A Plot."
This is a XXX movie that actually has a story line, and "better than porn" acting!
Be aware- This DVD was poorly dubbed from film, so it has a mismatched synch with the audio and video.
I encourage you to actually leave the volume up, and watch this film as a full movie, don't just fast forward to the "good parts" you will miss the beauty of a plot line in porn!

Movie Title : City of Women [Blu-ray] - Fellini's most underrated film....and completely insane (creatively, anyway)

I love this film. I think it's as good as the great Fellini films (8 1/2, La Dolce Vita). There are moments of incredible magic throughout, and it's vividly cinematic. Some of Fellini's greatest sequences (like the one when Snaporaz goes down the slide into an "amusement" park) are pure Fellini magic. The cinematography by Giuseppe Rotunno is magnificent. It is one of Fellini's most inventive and surreal pictures (which, for him, is really saying something). The 138 minute running time just flies by. Many critics said that Fellini never made a good film after Amarcord, but they are so wrong. Almost every latter day Fellini film (even The Voices of the Moon, which never got a proper release in this country) has some elements in it that could only be brought out by the great Maestro. This film (along with And the Ship Sails On and Intrevista) are amongst Fellini's forgotten films, which is a shame, since they are well worth watching. See this one. It's amazing filmmaking...

What a wonderful dream!
City of Women is typical late Fellini fare, full of surrealism, elaborate sets, beautiful colors, gorgeous women and the bare bones of plot and linear structure. We have Marcello Mastroianni (of course) as lothario Snaporaz. After unsuccessfully seducing a woman on a train, he follows her to a hotel in the middle of a forest where a feminist convention is taking place. From that point on, Snaporaz finds himself in one compromising adventure after another. He is tormented by women on roller skates, accosted by a nymphomaniac, chased down by drugged up teenagers and eventually seeks refuge in the castle-like fortress of Dr. Uberkock who is having a party in celebration of his 10,000th sexual conquest.

The women appear lovely and harmless at first until little things set them off with Snaporaz always the target of their aggression. Fellini even goes so far as having many of the women in different scenes growl and grunt in an animalistic manner whether it's sexual or...
Better than 8 1/2!
Although most Fellini fans will point to his "8 1/2" as their favorite of his films, I think that "City Of Women" is just a little bit better. They are both 5s though so I may be splitting hairs! Marcello Mastrioanni plays Fellini's alter ego in both films. In "8 1/2" we see him as a film director surrounded by his usual coterie of Picasso-like faces. He is also contending with his problems as a womanizer as they continue to come in and go out of his life. "City Of Women" goes much further though. It shows that the primary fascination Fellini has with women is bonding to their sex. He clearly is much more attracted to the nature of woman than the nature of man.

He revels in their intuitive and instinctual side and the fecund, earth mother basis. Certainly the large part of him that exists as an artist is wholly situated in the sphere inhabited by the female sex. "trust is not an option"
Stunning, imaginative visuals highlight this sci-fi thriller, an intricate story of multi-layered brainwashing that is actually better on the second and third viewing, because of its maze of plot twists that one can get lost in, and knowing the ending doesn't lessen the impact of the drama.
The brainwashing scenes are brilliant, where a group attends lectures on subjects like "processed cheese" and "shaving cream distribution," and in paranoid moments makes me wonder what might be really happening to our brains while watching the average news/entertainment + advertising fare on our televisions.
These scenes are a little like the 1962 "The Manchurian Candidate," only using futuristic technology.

Stylish Thriller from the Director of 'Cube'
Canadian director Vincenzo Natali made a cult film 'Cube' in 1997 -- claustrophobic thriller about six people trapped in cubic rooms. In his new film, Natali made another thriller in the vein of 'The Manchurian Candidate.' The difference from Sinatra's classic film is that 'Cypher' is more atmospheric, complicated, and politic-free. You need a lot of suspention of disbelief, but the film is stylish and uniquely entertaining.

Jean Shepherd was a sadly under rated talent. Although this may not be his best material -- his book, "Wanda Hickey's Night of Golden Memories" contains his finest stories -- so much of his work was live ephemeral radio broadcasts that any of it fixed into a more durable form is worth having. In that sense, this video is a "must-have" for Shepherd fans, even if the acting and production aren't up to the standards of his earlier film, "A Christmas Story." It's still a good film, full of humor that can be appreciated at almost any level by almost anyone. If it's not his best, so what? Few writers or comedians today could equal even a mediocre Shepherd effort.

Delightful, and actually the sixth film about the Parker family!
Ralph Parker is the 10-year-old Indiana boy you may remember from a little film called "A Christmas Story". Well, from his following summer comes "My Summer Story", the tale of Ralph's search for the ultimate killer top to defeat the new head bully, Lug Ditka, the Old Man's war with their hillbilly neighbors, the Bumpuses, Mom's gravy boat incident at the Orpheum Theater, a trip to the World Exposition, and that all-important first summer of fishing with the Old Man and his buddies.

Before I get into assessing "My Summer Story", class, does everyone here realize that Ralph Parker and his family "existed" well before the American holiday favorite, "A Christmas Story"? To date, there have, in fact, been 6 films about Ralphie, Randy, Mom, the Old Man, Flick Schwartz, and company. Three of them even aired before "A Christmas Story" was even released. I say "aired" because, in fact, 4 of the other Ralphie films were made for PBS's American Playhouse, airing in 1976, 1982, 1983...
A DECENT FOLLOW-UP, UNFAIRLY COMPARED WITH. . .

. . .well, you know, A CHRISTMAS STORY. And that, my friends, is where we all go wrong when we see a flick that's closely related to what's now a family classic. This movie is not nearly as sophisticated as it's predecessor and we can pick it apart for all it's worth just because it's so different. Personally, I'd like to have seen Darren McGavin play the Dad again but hey, Grodin holds up well and if seen as a separate movie on it's own, it has lots of funny vignettes that are all in Shepherd's stories. I thought the funniest scene was when the Bumpus's come dancing over to their horrified neighbor's house. This is a very funny FAMILY picture that can be watched with no qualms about language, subject matter and yet, it's an adult's view of growing up in the 40's. Don't let cynical naysayers keep you from trying this SMALL CLASSIC.

Goofball noir
Directed by Kelly Reichardt, whose most recent effort, Old Joy (2006) has been getting great reviews, River of Grass is a kind of nose-thumbing take on film noir on-the-lam road movies, the grand-daddy of which has to be the seminal and amazing Gun Crazy (1949). As in that film--as well as quite a few since--there's a girl and a guy. But in this case, the girl is an unhappy housewife and the guy is a jobless drifter who accidentally comes into possession of a gun.

And in fact, the gun belongs to the girl's father, a detective on the local (read: somewhere in south Florida, near the Everglades) police force. The detective and his cop buddies are shown, not as dumbbells or geniuses either, but as regular guys who are mostly fed up with their lives. What's interesting, among other things, about this film is that the father is an amateur jazz drummer and the film, divided into numbered parts (i.e., we see "1", "2", etc. displayed on screen for each part), each of which is...

I largely agree with reviewer LGwriter, though I'd say the film is more a takeoff on Badlands than on classic noir. Perhaps I haven't seen enough noir on-the-lam films. Whichever.

I won't go into a plot synopsis, since LGwriter and the Amazon reviewer, Bret Fetzer, do a good job of that. I'm basically here to chime in on the lukewarm response, to offset the handful of 5*, seeming sock puppet (i.e. friends and family), reviews.

This is not a BAD film, and there are aspects and moments of interest, but it's certainly not one I'll be revisiting anytime soon. I like quirky indies, even if they may be technically lacking. But they have to have something else to draw me in, and this one just didn't for me.

On the plus side, at least for some, it does share the whole slacker aesthetic, aging 20-somethings with no ambition or future. And there is a certain...

Not everything is what it seems
When I first saw the trailer for this, I was a bit worried. It seemed very kiddy and not as mildly gritty as the original. There didn't really appear to be the "bad guy" element that made the first so great. Well, after watching an advanced international copy (the Egyptian subtitles were actually sort of educational) I found that I was pleasantly mistaken.

Dolph Lundgren is not to be trifled with in any movie, and KC2 (as it's being called in the underground circles) is no different. Why would the elementary school in the same town think it necessary to bring in yet another oversized foreign police officer to teach kindergarten? First off, it worked the first time around. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Even more importantly is why he is there though... Both detectives John Kimble and Phoebe O'Hara (Schwarzenegger and Reed) have been brutally murdered, and there isn't a suspect in sight. They were loved in the town, and their enemies from 25 years ago have long...
How awesome it that

This is a family friendly kid movie that has Dolph Lundgren vs kids. How awesome it that? Universal took the reigns and released a sequel to a classic movie. They got director Don Michael Paul on board who has had success with sequels like Jarhead 2 and Tremors 5. His vision is seen in these films as fresh and imaginative. Their plots were different that what a preview appears to show. So, I know that Kindergarten Cop 2 will have just the same impact, that the plot will have something that is unexpected. Thanks to Universal and director Don Michael Paul making this film.
